What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is an ancient art, and has been used for centuries as a way of healing our bodies and fixing the physical and emotional pain that we store. There are many types of massage available and sometimes the choice can be unfathomable. Sue Lancaster is a skilled and experienced massage therapist and will be able to offer a therapeutic massage to help ease tension, tightness and generalised stress.
Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage Therapy
Remedial massage is the manipulation of soft tissues in the body to provide therapeutic relief from pain, discomfort and tenderness to specific problematic areas. Unlike relaxation based massages, there is a more focused approach to specific areas to provide relief from pain and discomfort. There are many symptoms that can be eased using remedial massage, such as neck tightness, back pain, leg tightness and tension headaches.
Aromatherapy & Hot Stone Massage
Aromatherapy massage is an ancient art of healing and wellbeing, using the therapeutic plant based properties of essential oils as a means of looking after our physical health and wellbeing.
Hot stones, when included into a massage therapy, work on a variety of levels, promoting heat through circulation, warming the muscles and areas of sinew and congestion and making the soft tissues more pliable and responsive to manipulation and release.
Indian Head Massage
Massage of the head is an ancient phenomenon, and the techniques used are taken from Ayurveda health techniques, originating from India. Massage of the scalp is a wondrous sensation, and people are often amazed at the levels of tightness that they feel dissolve as their head massage progresses.
Reiki (meaning Universal energy) is an energetic practice of working on the self, helping us to find centredness and balance, as well as connecting us on a deeper level to the spiritual aspects of our being. Reiki, first and foremost, is an energetic practice that begins within you. It is a way of feeling your own energy and allows you to drop into a deeper sense of wellbeing.
With Reiki, no two sessions feel the same. Sometimes you can feel as if you’ve drifted off to sleep, other times you are aware, but in a different space. The best way to have your expectations met is to have no expectations. Be open to receive and to get what you get. It will be worth it.
