As a nutritional therapist Charlotte provides personalised dietary advice for health and wellbeing. Having previously worked as a nutritional epidemiologist at the University of Edinburgh studying dietary factors associated with chronic disease, Charlotte decided on a career change after the birth of her first child. Instead of researching what people ate and its effects on their health, she resolved to help people improve their health and wellbeing by advising them on what to eat. She has a BSc in Nutritional Therapy from the University of West London in addition to her PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from the University of Edinburgh and other science degrees.
Charlotte is passionate about food and firmly believes that what you eat has a profound effect on health and wellbeing. Given her background in scientific research and systematic reviews, she is an advocate of evidence based medicine and will only use specific dietary recommendations for which there is sound scientific evidence. Charlotte is a full member of BANT (British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy) and is registered with the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council) requiring her to abide by their strict code of practice and ethics.
Charlotte sees clients from all walks of life and with many different health issues, with female and child health being her main interests. She also has a considerable knowledge of cancer and cardiovascular health.
Nutritional therapy can help support a wide range of health concerns including:
- Digestive discomfort
- Food sensitivities
- Female health issues
- Child health issues
- Immune dysfunction
- Hormonal problems
- Weight management
- Skin health
- Low energy
- Stress management
- Mood disorders
- Sleep issues
- Healthy aging
Being an integrative complementary therapy, nutritional therapy works well alongside other complementary therapies as well as conventional medicine.
Before your consultation with Charlotte, you will be asked to complete a diet, health and lifestyle questionnaire including a 3 day food diary. The initial consultation lasts approximately 90 minutes, during which your health, diet and lifestyle will be discussed in detail. Charlotte will then create an achievable, personalised programme designed to address your specific needs and fit in around your daily life. This will include specific dietary and lifestyle recommendations, recipe and meal planning suggestions to help you achieve your goals and, if necessary, suggested supplements.
In order to get the most out of your nutritional therapy programme, Charlotte recommends that you return for at least one follow-up consultation. This allows Charlotte to give ongoing support and advice, as well as to monitor progress made since the last visit, explain any functional test results and to update the strategy to ensure that your programme is working effectively for you.
