Apple, Cucumber and Celery Super Greens smoothie

Supergreens Smoothie

Now that the days are getting longer and the weather, hopefully, warmer, here is a lovely fresh smoothie for Spring and Summer. Combining Celery, cucumber and apple together creates a delicious drink that’s nicely sweet but which contains lots of great stuff. When you add our Super Greens mix to this, the health benefits soar.

With the celery, you get loads of vitamins, compounds and minerals that help to promote kidney health, improve blood pressure, cleanse your whole system, boost your immune system and can also help to lower your blood pressure.

Cucumber contains alkaline-forming minerals and is a great source of vitamins C and A (anti-oxidants), folate, manganese, potassium, silica, sulfur, as well as vitamin B complex, sodium, calcium, and phosphorus. Cucumber contains unique polyphenols called lignans, three of which - lariciresinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol - have a strong history of research in connection with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease as well as several cancer types, including breast, uterine, ovarian, and prostate cancers. Like celery, cucumber can help in regulating blood pressure because of its minerals and traces of sodium.

D. Atkinson Super Greens Mix contains organic Spirulina which has fantastic anti-inflammatory properties as well as containing Omega 3, 6 and 9. It is also especially high in Omega 3s and Chlorophyll, which help remove toxins from the blood and boosts the immune system. Spirulina is a very good source of other nutrients including vitamins B, C, D, A and E as well as being a source of potassium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, selenium, magnesium and zinc. Spirulina is also extremely high in calcium which makes it an excellent dairy substitute.

Other ingredients in our Super Greens Mix include: Chlorella, Organic Barley grass, Organic Wheatgrass, Ginger, Blueberry, Goji Berry, Acai Berry.

The recipe:

1 medium apple

Half a large cucumber

3 sticks of celery

A dash of lemon juice

2 teaspoons of D. Atkinson Super Greens Mix

The method:

Put some ice in your blender or smoothie maker along with the chopped apple. Blend slowly, adding a little water if it gets too thick. Then add the chopped celery and cucumber and blend again.
